PFS 3-12 - Wonders in the Weave, Part 1: The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb

-
System: Pathfinder Roleplaying Game
Duration: ~4 hours

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for Levels 5–9.

On an isolated demiplane, the Pathfinders explore an Osirian ruin transported from Golarion by a powerful sorcerer centuries ago. And though the Pathfinder Society believes the fruits of their delve to be ripe for the picking, the unnatural landscape surrounding the tomb and a run-in with an unexpected guest make getting out with the treasure a tough task for the PCs.

"The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb" is the first scenario in the two-part Wonders in the Weave campaign arc. The story concludes in Pathfinder Society Scenario #3–14: Wonders in the Weave—Part II: Snakes in the Fold. Both chapters are intended to be played in order.

I will switch over to judge 4-11 if we don't see much in the way of volunteers. Just momentarily enjoying the idea of finally being able to play the character (it would be the first time he has seen action).

Sammy T. said

Just a reminder for folks signing up, please let us know in the sign up above or the comments here what level character you are playing--it helps the GM prep for the scenarios. Thanks!

Anyone able to bring me a copy of 4-11 this coming Monday (December 17) at the Dojo? If so, I'll run the 3rd table. Let me know if someone can do that, and I'll make it official.

Richard B. was all

I didn't specify a PC for The Disappeared because I have several in the 1-5 range. I can play either subtier, wide variety of PC types.

Robert C. was like

Not sure who I'm playing with, but whoever it is will be level 3.

Perry L. was all

I'm playing a Level 1 Inquisitor of Rovagug (that's right) for the disappeared.

Rene D. was all

@Karl: 4-11 hasn't been released yet. I can get it to you later on in the month.

Karl J. said

@Rene: Gotcha. I may need to just sign up to play on 1/7 then. I'm going to be working 10-12hr days that first week back so my prep time is really later this month or nothin'. Looks like there are 3 GMs signed up for 1/7 already plus the beginner box session so I guess we're covered anyway?

I'll plan to play on 1/7 and am already signed up to GM 1/14 and 1/21 anyway.

With seasonal work in the western suburbs, I was unable to make for PFS nights at DIce Dojo. Hopefully, I can be able to make for PFS Nights at Dice Dojo again in January.

Jessica W. was like

Sorry, my boss needs me to work Monday night, so I can't GM. Sorry about the late notice.

Timothy M. was like

Maybe Brad Ruby can be encouraged the judge, then. Since he has already played 4-11.

Gary S. said

I have a lvl 3 Rouge/fighter Mutt.

Sammy T. said

I will run the low sub-tier for The Disappeared.

Sammy T. said

(I would gently suggest that skills-oriented characters may be more apropos for The Disappeared.)

Timothy M. said

Skills like Disable Device & Intimidate or skills like Knowledges, Perception, and Spellcraft? Kind of would like to avoid bringing the Blind Swordsman out of mothballs at the moment.

Stephen K. was all

As Sammy mentionned, you need a variety of skills. I.e., a party of characters with 1 skill per level probably won't cut it.

Robert C. was all

Would it be worthwhile to start building the parties now? If so, I'll start the ball rolling:
Raan Deio, humble servant of Saranrae and unintentional agent of Gorum, is quite skilled in convincing others by charm or by force, is a skilled healer, and as a priest has some degree of knowledge of Golarion, its gods, and their home planes.

He also likes to play up because he is METAL.

Timothy M. was all

I can take Isidoro either sub-tier. His skills include making alchemical substances, picking locks and dealing with non-magical traps, the arcane mysteries, general history, basic biology, esoteric cosmology, basic theology, awareness, baking, spellcraft, and living in the wild. However, he is still dealing with low power bombs (and his spellcasting is 1st level) and a very hittable AC.

He can function as an archer (using a crossbow, bombs, and force missiles) in a party that is otherwise set for damage dealers, and he can use the CLW wand without needing to make a check. Oh...and he thinks that the best use of metal is for cooling racks in the kitchen.

Jake S. was all

Hejkzo gained many of his skills avoiding what he considered pointless training. Thus, he's sneaky, good at lying, and makes a good lookout. Being a Tengu he is fairly acrobatic and shines when it comes to languages; he knows 8 of them and can fake the rest. He can figure things out pretty quickly about the surrounding area, but he won't think hard enough to remember it when he leaves. (If you prefer list form: Acrobatics, Bluff, Knowledge Local, Linguistics, Perception, and Sleight of Hand)

Also, he uses a rapid fire musket. So that's fun. I'll play either sub-tier as well, though given what I know about this scenario, I'd prefer low.

Perry L. was all

I'm actually not using my Inquisitor now, as I'm going to be using him in a batch of runs with the same group.

So I will be playing Rom the Wine-Soaked, Human Barbarian 2, drinker of Ale, smasher of great many things.

Rebecca P. was all

I was thinking to turnout a level 1 bard, but i have a 3 fighter. Whatever is convenient Smile

Brad R. said

Hey can someone step up to judge the 3rdlow table of 4-11PFS tonight I am not fully recovered from stomach flu this weekend to judge tonight.
thanks for the help,
Brad

Too late for me to read the scenario to run The Disappeared tonight. But if we're really desperate for another low level table, I can bring a different adventure that I know well enough to GM. I just GMed The Frostfur Captives on Thursday, so I could run it again tonight. Or I can always pull out one of the First Steps adventures if we have enough level 1s.

Robert C. said

I will try to run The Disappeared, but it will be on minimal prep. Not signing up yet until I'm 100% sure I can do it.

Garrett G. was like

There are 7 players signed up for Wonders in the Weave, and 2 GMs.

I advise against having one table of 7 players.

Instead, one table should go with 3 + a player or GM run Pre-gen...and the other table should go with 4. We can decide tonight at the store for the best breakdown.

Jake S. was like

I'm sorry guys, I have to cancel for today. I am needed for training.

Jared E. was like

I just signed up to make the 8th person for Wonders in the Weave. Sorry for the last minute sign up, I wasn't sure if I was going to make it back into town in time or not.

Derek H. was all

Ill b playing my lvl 1 mage @ Disappeared, sorry 4 the inconvenience.

Karl J. was all

What a scheduling mess today, guys. I'm sorry to pile onto all the cancellations, but it was all I could do not to be sick on the trainride home tonight. I feel awful. Would still drag myself there, but am very afraid that I am just at the start of whatever this is and, if I did, I might make others sick too.

I hope it works out with the GMs + player combinations once the dust (and kleenex) settles.

Rene, I'll email you about getting the mod for next Monday later in the week since I'm GM'ing the next two Mondays.
